International Training Seminar on Sustainable Bioenergy Heating
International Training Seminar on Sustainable Bioenergy Heating
The International Training Seminar on Sustainable Bioenergy Heating will be held in Linz, Austria, from 14 to 17 September 2026. The event is organised by PROSPECT+ partner OÖ Energiesparverband and will bring together experts and stakeholders to discuss market development and technologies for sustainable bioenergy heating.
As Europe continues to address energy security challenges, rising fossil fuel prices and ambitious climate targets, sustainable bioenergy is playing an increasingly important role in the transition towards a low-carbon energy system. Modern bioenergy heating solutions can contribute significantly to decarbonisation efforts while supporting affordable, local and secure energy supply.
The international seminar will focus on small- to medium-scale bioenergy heating projects fuelled by wood pellets and wood chips, covering applications for residential buildings, commercial and public facilities, as well as district heating networks of up to several megawatts.
Participants will benefit from an interactive learning environment, expert presentations and technical site visits showcasing best practices in sustainable bioenergy heating. The programme will provide valuable insights into technology development, market growth strategies and sustainability aspects of bioenergy systems.
Key topics
- Success factors for developing sustainable local bioheat markets
- Bioenergy heating technologies, combustion processes and emission reduction
- System design and implementation approaches
- Fuel standards, logistics and sustainability considerations for wood pellets and wood chips
- Business models, financing mechanisms and marketing strategies
As an international training event, the seminar focuses on transferable knowledge and market development experiences rather than country-specific regulations or funding schemes.
Who should attend?
The seminar is designed for representatives of businesses, public authorities, institutions, NGOs and other stakeholders interested in promoting sustainable bioheat markets. It is particularly relevant for participants from countries where the market for automated bioenergy heating technologies is still at an early stage of development.
By bringing together experts and practitioners from across Europe and beyond, the seminar offers an excellent opportunity to exchange experiences, build networks and explore practical solutions that support the transition to sustainable heating systems.
PROSPECT encourages interested stakeholders to take advantage of this unique learning opportunity and join the international bioenergy community in Linz in September 2026.
