In #h2020PROSPECT we organise and facilitate a 6- month long learning program. Mentors and mentees need to apply well in advance, matched with each other and attend online sessions before they get to go to a physical visit.

Those visits offer the opportunity for deeper exchange, see how in practice the solution has been implemented. At the end of March 2020, a PROSPECT physical meeting was supposed to take place in London Borough of Croydon. Instead, the PROSPECT facilitator, Bernadett Köteles-Degrendele (EUROCITIES) was in her home in Belgium; the mentee, Dionysis Kouvelas from the municipality of Messini was in his home in Greece and the mentor stayed in Croydon. This way, the learning opportunity was not lost.

Dear readers please consider responding to our short survey.

In the PROSPECT H2020 project we have examined the needs for success at the project start and now we would like to update and validate what the key factors are for green financing to become a reality. If you are working for a city/municipality or region, we would love to hear your opinion on the subject.

Global installed capacity of photovoltaic (PV) systems in 2018 increased by 26% relative to the previous year to a level of 509.3 TW. For the eighth year in succession, PV outpaced all other types of renewable energy technologies in terms of annual investment volumes, making it the most dominant and important renewable energy technology. Compared to wind energy, PV already is the cheapest energy generation source in most southern and high solar irradiation countries.

The central question about financing Green Investements is often: How? It can seem difficult to find available money for a first investment, and this is an important issue for households but also municipalities and regions. In Europe, there are more and more interesting cases about what type of innovative financing can work in practice. It was one aim, through the PROSPECT project, to showcase those successes, and enable peer to peer learning in regional and local authorities in order to finance and implement their sustainable energy plans.
