Tell us how your city or region accelerates climate action!
Recognising the critical role local and regional governments play in the shift to a climate-neutral Europe, over the past two decades the European Commission has gradually increased its support for urban-led sustainable energy and climate planning. But, despite these strides, advancing the immense potential of cities and regions to contribute to climate action on the necessary scale is by no means simple.
Several barriers preventing cities and regions from fully translating their vision towards decarbonised and resilient territories into reality are often present. On the other hand, there is a number of favourable factors and opportunities that municipal and regional authorities can leverage to take more effective action. An advanced understanding of the aforementioned factors would benefit the strategic planning and further strengthen cities’ and region's efforts to shape and set up more ambitious sustainable energy projects, while ensuring that an effective and timely implementation will occur.
We would like to hear about your experience working with local-scale energy-related and sustainability projects!
In our ongoing effort to empower regional and local authorities to finance and execute their sustainable energy projects (SECAPs/SEAPs or other relevant projects) with maximum effectiveness and efficiency, we are rolling out an opinion survey on the factors affecting the implementation and acceleration of cities’ pledged action.
The survey is coordinated by TEESlab, the energy modelling, strategy and policy analysis laboratory of University of Piraeus (UPRC), and aims to explore the research topic by capturing and comparing different viewpoints and perceptions of local administrators and relevant stakeholders who have project management or other experience in designing and implementing SECAP-related projects or hold relevant positions in their respective city.
